How to use Collections

Collections in Delta are a powerful way to organize your media library and collaboratively get work done. Fundamentally, a collection is a list of records / tapes. You can create a collection, add and remove records from it, and perform bulk actions on your collection.

A collection can be temporary, for a one-off task, or can be a permanent way of organizing a subset of your media. Additionally, you can share a collection with other members of your team to collaborate.

Create a collection

  1. Navigate to the Collections page in the Delta sidebar.
  2. Click the "New" button in the top-right corner.
  3. Pick a name for your collection, along with an icon and a color. The icon and color make it quick to identify your collections later.
  4. Congrats, you have a new collection! But, it's empty. Next, let's add some records to your collection.
When you create a collection, you can choose a name, icon, and color for it. This helps to make it stand out and be identifiable while you work.

Adding records to a collection

  1. From the Library or Search page, click the checkbox next to a record (or multiple records).
  2. Use your mouse cursor to drag the selected record(s), and drag them over to the "Collections" tab on the sidebar. Don't release your cursor yet!
  3. The Collections panel will appear, presenting all of your collections to you. Continue dragging the selected tapes over the top of the collection you want to add them to, and then release your mouse. The records are now added to the collection!
Drag and drop a record, or multiple records, into any of your collections.
Once you drop records into a collection, you'll see a notification that they have been added.

Sharing a collection

  1. Navigate to the Collections page in the Delta sidebar. Here, you will see the list of all your collections, as well as all collections that have been shared with you.
  2. Click on a collection, then click on the "Share collection" button on the top toolbar. This is the icon with the outline of a person, and a plus (+) symbol.
  3. A panel will open up showing who the collection is shared with, and allowing you to add or remove members from it.
Use the "Share Collection" button to manage who has access to your collection.
